Portsmouth have been rocked by a Premier League fine after breaching a series of rules this season.

The South Coast club have endured a turbulent campaign and were forced to enter administration in February to avoid being wound up.

A nine-point deduction was confirmed last week to leave Pompey facing almost certain relegation, although the immediate future of the club looks more stable and administrator Andrew Andronikou is hoping to find a new buyer.

Another financial blow has now hit Portsmouth with the news that they must pay the Premier League a reported £1million fine.

And the Premier League will not have to wait like most of the creditors as they will take it from the £6million television money and other funds withheld from Pompey.

"Portsmouth have been fined for a series of breaches of our rules and regulations during the course of this season," a spokesman said in The Sun.
