Adam Booth is confident boxing fans "aren't going to have to wait a lifetime" to see a showdown between David Haye and Wladimir Klitschko.

The trainer/manager was in the Sky Sports News studio to give his reaction to Wladimir calling out his fighter in a video message that was posted online.

The two had been due to meet last summer before Haye was ruled out with a back injury. Since then, the British boxer has gone on to claim the WBA belt.

After successfully defending his title against John Ruiz, Haye told Sky Sports last week that he hoped to take on either of the Klitschko brothers next.

Challenge

Booth admitted that Vitali had been the more likely of the two until his younger sibling, who holds the WBO and IBF straps, publicly laid down the gauntlet.

"The last conversation we had with the Klitschkos was regarding David fighting Vitali," he said.

"Vitali holds the WBC belt and, as far as we are concerned the WBC and WBA are the two major titles. So, in our eyes, Vitali holds the most significant belt.

"But obviously from that fantastic piece of film, Wladimir is the one that wants it.

"David has been celebrating for the last week but we will speak over the next few days and make a decision. I think it's obvious the fans aren't going to have to wait a lifetime for this fight to happen."

Haye is planning to have four more fights before retiring at the age of 31.

The Londoner has confirmed that a rematch with giant Russian Nikolai Valuev, the man he beat to become heavyweight world champion last year, is an option, though not his preferred choice as his next opponent.
