Wilshere: Capello praise
Fabio Capello says Jack Wilshere is now one of his first-choice midfielders after winning just two caps for England.
The Arsenal youngster, who made his debut for his country as a late substitute against Hungary at Wembley in August, has played a key role for the Gunners this season.
The 19-year-old looks a prime candidate to feature in next Saturday's Euro 2012 qualifier with Wales at the Millennium Stadium and the friendly with Ghana on March 29th at Wembley.
And Capello feels his performances for Arsenal against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League have established him as one of the best young players in the world.
Capello said: "Wilshere, after the game against Barcelona, he has arrived.
"He has arrived. You can understand the value of that sort of performance.
"As a young player, I think he is at the top, not only in England but Europe and the world."
When asked if Wilshere was now a first-choice midfielder, Capello said: "Yes, yes, because he is good, because he plays without fear, and with confidence.
"Also for someone so young, he is a leader. It is incredible.
"I never saw someone so young be a leader on the pitch. It is incredible."
But the manager believes it will be his successor and not him who will decide whether he is a future England captain.
He said: "He is a leader but it (being England captain) will be probably the choice of another manager."

big jock you are a liverpool fan, this should say enough, what bottle does your club have exactly? have you looked at your current league position? jack wilshere and the arsenal team has more balls than your whole squad. as for england they have been nothing short of over hyped under acheivers, they cannot be hasbeens cos they havent been anything. jack wilshere adds to the english midfield that is seriously lacking, pace, skill and the ability to read a game. if anything he does not deserve to be used in such a midfield especially if its with the same old players who have opened up england for public riducule. his talents are wasted in that team as are many others. a million managers have tried and none have succeded since the last moment of triumph, this country very often produces crap, luckily enough mr wilshere is a rare gem, and the funniest thing is the fact that only a french man could allow him to shine in such the way that he does. takes a lot of bottle. if arsenal had liverpools bottle we would have been relegated years ago.

@ Arjun Kotecha - You obviously know nothing about the game. Seriously I bet you have never played before have you? Unbelievable. I agree with the midfield 3 of Parker holding and letting Gerrard and Wilshere have a bit of freedom. I am worried though that Bale will tear Johnson apart when we play Wales. We need an early goal against them to not let them in it.

@big jock arsenal team bottlers,do u mean like the liverpool team?? and as for becoming a bottler for England!!!!!!! aint stevie Gerrard abit like that good for club rubbish for Liverpool, John Barnes was also the same and he was a Liverpool player as well,Arsenal r trying to build a team of winners without blowing millions on rubbish such as Torres,Carroll,Johnson,J Cole,Lucas the list goes on and so far the only person who seems to have noticed how bad Liverpool are is Torres.

Jack Wilshere is the main man and should be played with parker and gerrard in a 3 man midfield with parker holding. Walcott should be up front with Rooney and johnson in behind and Harry Redknapp should be the next boss.

I am looking forward to see Jack Wilshere playing against Aaron Ramsey. A year ago Ramsey was still ahead of Wilshere until his terrible injury.

Easilly the best young midfielder alongside bale in the world. Need to change the shape of our team to fit wilshire in. Drope some of the big name players, and get rid of the rigid 4-4-2 and go 4-3-3. My team wil be (When all fit): Gk: Hart Rb: Johnson Cb: Terry Cb: Ferdinand Lb: Cole Cm: Gerrard Cm: Parker Cm: Wilshire LF: Rooney RF: Walcott CF: Carroll

Hart, Richards, Jagielka, Terry, Cole in defence Young/Johnson, Wilshere, Lampard/Parker, Lennon, in midifield Rooney in the free role, suupporting and playign as a thrid CM and then Crouch or Caroll or Bent up top, depends on what Capello is looking for

Wilshire should become a world class superstar, let's just hope that we get an English manager next who understands that we need our best players playing in their best position otherwise he may end up with the Scholes and Gerrard curse for England of being shunted out on the left and still expected to be world class

As good as JW is, let us hope that this is not another case of too much hype, too soon. So many hopefuls in the past have promised so much and have not delivered, partly I feel because of the media hype and pressure on their shoulders at such a young age. Already we are talking about JW becoming future England captain. As an Arsenal fan, I certainly hope that he fulfils his true potential in the years to come but please let's leave the boy (and he is still a boy) alone and let him develop at his own pace. Too many next George Best's and next Geoff Hurst's have been left on the football scrapheap without realising their true potential. Hopefully JW will not be one of them.

@Neil Bagley have you missed the point of this story? Jack Wilshere plays for Arsenal and Capello is singling out his performance against Barcelona, so to say English players don't get a chance at the big clubs is strange. You can't get a much bigger club/match for the young man to play in!? Also you don't have to look too far for other examples, Kieran Gibbs will be first choice at Arsenal next year, Smalling at Man Utd, Ashley Cole got his chance at Arsenal and is now at Chelsea, to name just a few. If you are good enough then you will get your chance!

For years now all i have read is that arsenal have to many foreign players and this will ruin english football,so how come the best young english player by a mile came threw the arsenal ranks and there is more to come .England need more players who are comfortable on the ball and have vision and awareness like wilshire .To many clubs produce good athletes that may help stay midtable in the prem but will get found out to easily at world or champions league level .

wilshere is a great player and is going to be the england captain in years to come. heres the team i would play against wales hart richards jagielka terry cole lampard wilshere gerard lennon bent rooney i think glen johnson has been poor and that richards is better defensively. also i think rooney will go out wide but may be just behind bent i think walcott, carol, rio would of started if they were fit. england to beat wales 5-0!!
