Morecambe boss Jim Bentley is relishing the prospect of travelling to face Lancashire neighbours Blackpool in the the Capital One Cup.

The Shrimps' first ever competitive game with Ian Holloway's Championship play-off finalists is due to take place on the eve of the new season in the week commencing August 13, although the clubs may take up the Football League's option of taking each other on over the preceding weekend.

Last term, Bentley's men overcame Championship opposition in the form of Barnsley and the Liverpudlian is hopeful of a repeat.

"It would obviously have been nice to have been drawn at home, but it is a game that will certainly excite the players and fans and I'm looking forward to it already," he said.

"It will be a really tough game for us, but we have done well against sides from leagues above us in the last couple of years and we will be looking to do the same again in this one."
