Stevenage manager Gary Smith heaped praise on goalscorer Darius Charles following the 1-1 home draw against Shrewsbury.
Smith was also complimentary about the opposition, who took an early lead through Paul Parry before a superb individual effort from Charles ensured a share of the points.
"That was exactly how I thought it might be," said Smith. "(Shrewsbury boss) Graham Turner has got this group in an excellent place. They're a confident-looking team, they play to their strengths and they work to their format very well.
"There were multiple occasions where we were a tad fortunate. The goal was actually a little out of the blue. I thought we started quite brightly and (goalkeeper) Chris Day is disappointed. He has palmed back into a dangerous area but full credit to Parry following up, it's a really good finish to lift it over his body.
"Darius' goal was the highlight of our attacking play - a wonderful strike and a good individual effort."
Smith added: "We're all pretty frustrated and disappointed in the dressing room. We're a better side than what we've showed in the second period. Credit to Shrews, lots of pressure, lots of high pressure and good energy, but there were too many mistakes for our part. The shape of the group looked a little uncertain and lopsided."
