Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero is targeting a comeback in time to take on Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
City travel to the Bernabeu next Tuesday to take on the Spanish champions in a city that was Aguero's home for five years as an Atletico Madrid player.
The 24-year-old never managed to beat Real in his time there and has been out injured since damaging his knee on the opening weekend of the Premier League season against Southampton.
But the Argentina international is eyeing a return against Stoke at the weekend in order to prove his fitness ahead of a clash against a side Aguero rates as among the world's very best.
"I was never on the winning side against them so let's hope with City we can beat them," said Aguero, quoted in the Daily Express.
"It will be difficult. Right now Real and Barcelona are among the best teams in the world. But we have a great team too."
Aguero had previously hinted he could feature for his country in their qualifier against Peru this week but did not play as Argentina drew 1-1 on their travels.
