Birmingham manager Lee Clark tried to draw the positives from his side's 2-1 defeat to Cardiff.
The Bluebirds moved to the top of the table after Craig Bellamy and Mark Hudson struck either side of Leroy Lita's equaliser for the visitors.
The result leaves City languishing in the lower echelons of the Championship after an inconsistent start to the season but the display, on the back of the 1-0 win at Brighton at the week, has given Clark reason to be confident.
"The performance was there again. The last two games I've seen bright signs - our performances have been good," said Clark.
"We've come to two very tough places and been more in the game. We've handled the opposition very well and I certainly feel we should have got something from this game, which would have been two positive results.
"I think we deserved something from the game. I thought we played well and we just got a bit unlucky. The goals are disappointing from our point of view but I feel we deserved at least a point."
