Rafael Nadal could be fit to play in the ATP Tour Finals and the Davis Cup final according to his uncle and coach Toni.

Nadal has not played since the second round of Wimbledon, where he was upset by Lukas Rosol.

The 26-year-old has been suffering with Hoffa syndrome, an inflammation of the tissue situated behind the kneecap in his left knee.

He missed the London Olympics and US Open and had not been expected to return until the turn of the year.

But his uncle told Fox Sports: "In 15 days, Rafa will resume training, in time for him to aim to play in the Masters (ATP Tour Finals) and the final of the Davis Cup."

The ATP Tour Finals in London run from November 5-12, and the Davis Cup final from November 16-18 will see Spain defend their title against the Czech Republic in Prague.

Both events will take place on hard courts, which are more likely to aggravate existing injuries than Nadal's preferred surface, clay.
