Burnley manager Eddie Howe was inconsolable after seeing his side blow a two-goal lead in the 4-3 defeat at Crystal Palace.

Chris McCann and Martin Paterson had put the Clarets in total charge but Wilfried Zaha replied with a personal brace and the hosts surged into a 4-2 lead before the prolific Charlie Austin pulled one back to set up a tense finale.

"It is hugely disappointing to lose the game today," he said.

"When you score the amount of goals we are at the moment and we're not getting the points that reflects, it's hugely frustrating.

"We feel very low tonight. At 2-0 up, we were well in control of the game and the first goal was a frustrating goal to concede.

"They hit us on the counter-attack but the manner of the second goal where we get broke on four v two is really suicidal defending away from home. You can't commit that many bodies forward.

"We set up with a system not to do that with the pace they have in their side. They are a threat with Zaha, he has real quality and we didn't deal with that well enough."
