Sky Sports understands that Burnley boss Eddie Howe is poised for a surprise return to take charge of League One outfit Bournemouth.
The Clarets manager is now the 1/4 odds-on favourite with Sky Bet to be installed as the new man at the helm of the Cherries.
Howe left the South Coast outfit after just over 100 matches in charge in January last year to take over at Turf Moor, but now appears set to be lured back by chairman Eddie Mitchell.
Only last week, Howe moved to distance himself from reports that was about to take a step down the Football League ladder from his current Championship employers.
Bournemouth, though, have been billed as the Manchester City of the third tier, with wealthy Russian businessman Maxim Demin currently bankrolling the club.
And it now appears that the highly-rated 34-year-old will return to the club he served with such distinction as a player to replace the axed Paul Groves.
The Cherries are currently languishing in the League One relegation zone and have won just one of their opening 11 matches.
