Francois Doumen's Siyouma claimed another top-level prize when winning the Grade One E.P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine.

The four year old has blossomed in the second half of the season and had gained a first top level success just 15 days previously when taking the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket.

Gerald Mosse had the filly well positioned in the first half of the field and that proved crucial to her chances as the 13 runners were closely bunched approaching the home turn as Mirco Demuro slowed the pace aboard German challenger Kapitale.

Decisive Success

Mosse had to work in order to secure a run but once out in the open, Siyouma quickened impressively to record a decisive success in the prestigious Canadian contest.

Mosse told www.woodbineentertainment.com: "To be honest, I was not worried about the track, the ground and the filly.

"I was just a bit worried two weeks ago...she was in the UK and we won a Group 1 already. It was a bit short in timing, but I told the trainer that if he chose to come, it means we are coming for something solid."

Full Of Praise

Doumen was full of praise for the Irish-bred Siyouma.

"She's so good and she's so calm," he said.

"She has got such a wonderful temperament that it allows her to travel beautifully well and takes all the effort away."

Outsider Pagera chased her home to complete a one-two for the French trained runners with Dream Peace - formerly trained in France where she was regularly ridden by Mosse - finishing third.

Richard Fahey's Barefoot Lady had running room against the rail but failed to pick up in the straight, finishing sixth, while Princess Highway struggled to land a blow in a rough race and was well beaten in tenth.

Havant, formerly trained by Sir Michael Stoute but now with Freddie Head, finished off the race well under Frankie Dettori to take fifth having raced in last.
