Rubi Light is set to make his seasonal reappearance in the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown on December 9.

Trainer Robbie Hennessy is considering experimenting over different distances this season and, despite being second in the Lexus Chase last Christmas over three miles, races of the minimum trip could also be on his agenda.

Having missed his intended comeback at Gowran Park after picking up a knock, he is now back in exercise.

"We had him ready for Gowran Park the other week but he knocked himself rolling in the field," said Hennessy.

"It was nothing serious but he was just on the easy list for a couple of weeks.

"He's been back riding out now though, and we're aiming at the John Durkan for his first run, a race he won last year.

"We're going to mix up his trip this year. We'll certainly not be afraid to try him over three miles again but we're also going to drop him back to two at some stage.

"If you take Sizing Europe away from the two-mile division, and Henry is talking about running him over further, there's nothing else to be afraid of."
