Mick Channon's Luhaif could finish only fifth in the Prix de Conde at Longchamp.

Jockey Sam Hitchcott was keen to make the running in the Group Three over nine furlongs, but he was soon in trouble once the pace quickened along the home straight.

Morandi, trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, travelled smoothly in Luhaif's slipstream and could not have won with any more authority when sent on his way by Gregory Benoist.

The Holy Roman Emperor colt scored by a winning margin of 12 lengths to take his career tally to three wins from five starts and he is yet to finish outside the first two.

Big Race Double

Benoist narrowly missed out on a big race double on the card after his mount, Sediciosa, was narrowly beaten in the Group Two Prix du Conseil de Paris.

The pair finished four lengths clear of the third but the pair went down by a short-head to Freddy Lemercier's Saga Dream who was last seen finishing almost 10 lengths behind Cirrus Des Aigles in the Prix Dollar.

Channon was also represented at the San Siro racecourse in Milan by juvenile filly Sorella Bella.

Sent off as favourite for the Premio Dormello following her second place finish to Law Enforcement in the Group One Gran Criterium, the Clodovil filly had to settle for minor honours once again.

Martin Harley's mount was narrowly beaten into second by Punta Stella in the Group Three contest.
