A crack at the Hong Kong Vase is on the radar for Dancing Rain following her encouraging return to action on Champions Day at Ascot.
Last year's Oaks heroine had endured a far from ideal preparation for her defence of the Qipco British Champions Fillies' And Mares' Stakes, having been sidelined by injury since finishing down the field in Japan last November.
However, the William Haggas-trained four-year-old ran an excellent race to be beaten five lengths into third by Irish raider Sapphire.
Maureen Haggas, wife of the Newmarket handler, said: "She's come out of the race well and we were thrilled with her performance.
"It's been a struggle getting her back but she ran a really good race and the plan now is to go to Hong Kong for the Vase over a mile and a half.
"Hopefully all goes according to plan between now and then."
A decision on whether the Hong Kong Vase will be Dancing Rain's swansong has not yet been made, but the Haggas team would relish seeing her race on as a five-year-old.
"That will be up to the owner. Obviously we'd love her to carry on and come back next season, but the owner will obviously make the final decision," said Maureen Haggas.
