Charlie Austin is setting his sights on writing a piece of history for Burnley in Tuesday night's Championship clash at Bristol City.

The striker has found the net in his last seven matches in all competitions and should he do so at Ashton Gate he would equal the club-record run of eight set by Ray Pointer back in 1958/59.

Austin, 23, has already matched the feats of Burnley greats George Beel, Bob Kelly and Bert Freeman but is now looking to draw level with Pointer before setting a record of his own at Cardiff on Saturday.

"I don't want to stop here. I want to go into Tuesday night and get a goal and then again on Saturday," said Austin, who already has 16 goals for the season.

"And as long as I keep scoring and the team keeps doing well, why can't we keep pushing up the league?"
