RKC Waalwijk have declared that they would like to add William Troost-Ekong to their squad following a recent trial, but the decision now rests with Tottenham Hotspur.

Troost-Ekong, 19, has been with Spurs for the past three years but has not yet made the breakthrough into the first team.

His contract expires at the end of the season and Dutch side RKC recently invited the midfielder to train with them for a couple of days.

Chief scout Janus van Gelder hopes a deal can be done to sign Troost-Ekong, although he appreciates that what happens next will be up to Tottenham.

Van Gelder told Voetbal International: "The cooperation was liked by both sides. We want to add William to our squad.

"However, we are dependent on Tottenham. We don't have the financial resources to sign him already in the winter break.

"For his development that would be the best solution as he has to play more minutes. We have to wait and see how the situation will develop."
