Sky Sports understands Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter has signed a new long-term deal at the club.

Arter has penned a new three-year deal with the option of a further 12 months at the League One club.

The news is a boost for Bournemouth as Arter was thought to be attracting interest from clubs higher up the football pyramid.

Arter, who joined from Woking in the summer of 2010, has established himself as a key member of the Bournemouth side and new Cherries boss Eddie Howe has moved to secure his long-term future.

Howe is a big fan of Arter and sees him as central to his plans for the South Coast club.
