The Houston Texans secured their play-off spot with a 24-10 win against division rivals the Tennessee Titans in Nashville.

The Texans, who made their maiden post-season appearance last year, improved to 11-1 thanks to a solid display from quarterback Matt Schaub and an error-strewn performance from their opponents.

Schaub threw for 207 yards and two touchdowns, to Lester Jean and James Casey in the first and second quarter respectively.

Running back Arian Foster added a score on the ground to put the Texans 21-3 up at half-time.

Shayne Graham extended the lead with a field goal in the third quarter and, although the Titans responded with a Kenny Britt touchdown, there was never any danger of a comeback.

Titans quarterback Jake Locker had a day to forget, throwing three interceptions and losing two fumbles as his side dropped to 4-8 on the season and out of post-season contention.

The Texans are sitting pretty at the top of the AFC South but have not yet clinched the division title as they can still - mathematically at least - be caught by the 8-4 Indianapolis Colts. Should that happen, they would still make the play-offs as a wild-card.
