Rob Quiney: Scored 122 for Victoria
Gary Ballance: Hit 86 in vain for the Lions
England Lions suffered an eight-wicket loss to Victoria in their opening match of the tour to Australia.
Gary Ballance smashed 86 off 96 deliveries, including 11 fours and two sixes, but it was all in vain for the tourists.
Batting first, the Lions posted 225-8 off their 50 overs - with James Vince also weighing in with 43 at the top of the order.
However Scott Boland (3-36), Fawad Ahmed (2-30) and David Hussey (2-38) helped to limit their progress.
And the total was way short of a competitive score as Victoria raced to victory in just under 14 overs.
Rob Quiney plundered 122 off just 104 balls, with the 30-year-old hitting 16 boundaries and three sixes, while Peter Handscomb finished unbeaten on 67.
Somerset bowler Craig Overton was the pick of the Lions attack, with the 18-year-old claiming 2-30.
