Johnson Charles: Big hundred for West Indies

Johnson Charles and Darren Bravo both hit centuries as the West Indies hammered Zimbabwe by 156 runs in their first ODI in Grenada.

The tourists won the toss at St George's and put the West Indies into bat, but that was about as good as it would get for Zimbabwe as they were ruthlessly put to the sword by the home batting attack.

Charles smacked 130 off just 111 balls while Bravo bagged his first ODI century as he made exactly 100 to add the final gloss to an innings that yielded a huge total of 337-4 from their 50 overs.

After losing all five ODIs in Australia, West Indies took out their frustrations on the hapless Zimbabwean attack, before then ending any feint hopes of a run chase very early on in their response.

Sunil Narine took three wickets as Zimbabwe limped along to 181-9 from their 50-over allotment with only Malcolm Waller offering anything in response with his 51.

Charles and opening partner Kieran Powell put on 168 for the first wicket, before Powell eventually went for 79 when caught by Craig Ervine at deep square leg.

The tempo had been set though, and Charles and Bravo added another 80 before the former's entertaining innings was finally ended by Chris Mpofu's yorker.

Following on from his maiden century in Melbourne, Charles showed his huge ability with his knock containing four sixes and 12 fours.

With two wickets down West Indies already had 248 on the board, but they faltered only slightly as Andre Russell made four and Dwayne Bravo nine as they failed to cash-in on the friendly bowling, but his half-brother Darren kept piling on the runs.

Bravo smacked eight off the final over and five from the last two balls to make sure he just about made it to three figures for the first time in one-day international cricket.
