Injured Hannover midfielder Leon Andreasen has signed a 12-month contract extension with the Bundesliga club.

The former Fulham man's previous deal was set to expire in the summer but he is now under terms at awd-Arena until the end of next season.

Injury-plagued Denmark international Andreasen is currently recovering from a cruciate ligament problem but Hannover still decided to offer the 29-year-old a new deal.

He told Hannover's official website: "I am delighted the club have handed me this kind of trust. It is a great feeling."

Hannover had no doubts about giving Andreasen a contract extension and they are confident he will recover full fitness after only returning from a previous long-term injury at the start of the current campaign.

General manager Jorg Schmadtke said: "We are of the belief Leon Andreasen will be back at full strength after the rehab phase of his latest injury."
