Aksel Lund Svindal clinched the World Cup super-G title with his fifth victory of the season at Kvitfjell in Norway on Sunday.

The Norwegian notched his 21st career victory in a time of 1min 29.79sec, finishing 0.52sec ahead of Austria's Georg Streitberger, with Italy's Werner Heel third a further 0.05sec adrift.

It was his first success on the Kvitfjell slopes after seven placed finishes over the years.

He buried the jinx in style, taking his fourth World Cup super-G title and moving to within 29 points of overall World Cup leader Marcel Hirscher of Austria in the process.

The giant Norwegian has dominated the discipline this year, winning four of the five races so far, to add to his six previous successes.
