David Ducourtioux has signed a one-year contract extension at Ligue 1 outfit Valenciennes, the club have confirmed.

The 34-year-old is now tied to the French side until the summer of 2014.

Ducourtioux has been with Valenciennes since 2007 and is delighted to have been offered the opportunity to prolong his stay.

"I am obviously very happy," he told the club's official website.

"The adventure continues and I still want to play, to have fun on the field within this group.

"I hope to continue being effective next season."

Meanwhile, Valenciennes have also handed a first professional contract to 18-year-old forward Opa Nguette.

The talented teenager, who has made 11 senior appearances this season, will remain with the club until 2016.

Valenciennes have also revealed that Anthony Le Tallec has been forced to undergo surgery on a niggling Achilles problem, with it expected that he will be sidelined for up to three weeks.
