John Part beats Stuart Kellett to take UK Masters crown after night of surprises

Three-time world champion John Part secured the UK Masters crown after beating Stuart Kellett 6-4 in the final in Somerset.
With the big names faltering on finals night, the Canadian saw off Kellett in a tight contest to claim the £20,000 first prize.
The first six legs were evenly split before Part secured the first break of throw in the seventh, hitting double 16 to complete a 13-dart leg.
He consolidated the break by taking the next leg as well, but missed a match dart in the ninth as Kellett took out double top to keep his hopes alive.
Part held his nerve, however, finishing with a 78 checkout to seal his first PDC ranking event title in over 18 months.
Phil Taylor had earlier been beaten 6-3 in the quarter-finals by fellow Stoke thrower Andy Hamilton, who in turn lost to Kellett by the same scoreline in the last four.
Adrian Lewis saw off James Wade 6-2 in the quarters but failed to reach the final after being handily beaten by Part in the semis.
Part was given a major scare in the last 16 as he went 5-2 down against Mensur Suljovic but he came through to secure the victory before also disposing of Simon Whitlock, Lewis and Kellett on his way to the title.
