France centre Florian Fritz has been ruled out of Saturday's Six Nations match against Scotland after failing to recover from a foot infection.

The 29-year-old's place among the replacements will be taken by uncapped 18-year-old Gael Fickou.

"Florian Fritz will not be fit for Saturday," said a French team spokesman.

"He has a blister that has infected his left foot. He has been replaced by Gael Fickou."

Fickou trained with the French squad ahead of the Six Nations but instead played for their under-20 side during the tournament.

France need to beat Scotland to avoid picking up their first wooden spoon since 1999 and their first in the Six Nations.
