Topsy Ojo claims London Irish are not just content with Premiership survival, they want to throw down a marker for next season.
The Exiles had gone into the 2012/13 campaign with high hopes of mounting a serious challenge for the play-off places.
However a dreadful run saw them register just two wins from their opening 12 games - and facing the realistic threat of relegation.
Brian Smith and his troops, though, have pulled together when it mattered the most, registering three wins in their last five matches to climb up to 10th - seven points ahead of bottom club London Welsh.
And with just five games remaining this season - including clashes with Welsh, 11th place Sale and ninth place Worcester - Ojo insists the club want to build towards next season.
"The win at Gloucester was massive for us. Going there in January and winning really gave us a lift."
"Our form since the turn of the year has been much better," the 27-year-old Ojo told Sky Sports.
"The win at Gloucester was massive for us. Going there in January and winning really gave us a lift.
"We are happy with the way we are playing and have gained more confidence as a result. We've now got an important run when we return to the Premiership.
"If we can win those games against the sides around us it will be crucial. Two wins out of the three should be enough but we want to finish the season on a high.
"We obviously didn't start well, we had high standards and hopes for the year but it didn't happen for us so we have had to adjust our sights as we've gone along. The aim now is to finish the season well to set us up nicely for next year.
"We had a lot of changes on and off the field and it took us longer to adjust than we thought. We had set our standards high but all the changes had an impact.
"However we are settled now and playing well together so hopefully we can have a big season next year."
