Aljamaaheer effort explained

Aljamaaheer returned from Deauville with mucus on his lungs which may explain why he faded so tamely in the Prix Jacques le Marois.
Roger Varian's four-year-old had previously finished third in the Lockinge to Farhh, was narrowly denied by Declaration Of War in the Queen Anne Stakes and won the Summer MIle at Ascot.
While he was considered an outsider by the bookmakers in what many classed as the highlight of the season so far in France, won on the day by Moonlight Cloud, he was travelling well before dropping out quickly approaching the final furlong.
"Aljamaaheer ran no sort of a race," said Angus Gold, owner Hamdan Al Maktoum's racing manager.
"One minute he was cruising and the next he was gone.
"He returned with a bit of mucus on his lungs so at least we've got an explanation."
