Scotland's Scott Brash has usurped his fellow British Olympic gold medallist Ben Maher as show-jumping's world No 1.

Following his success at last month's Global Champions Tour final in Doha, the 28-year-old rider from Peebles has climbed five places in the latest Longines world rankings, while Maher has dropped to No 2.

Both riders helped Britain secure European team gold in August, a year after landing the Olympic team title at London 2012.

Brash's rise to the top of world showjumping comes barely three years after he made his international debut for Great Britain at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.

World rankings: 1 Scott Brash (GB), 2 Ben Maher (GB), 3 Ludger Beerbaum (Ger), 4 Beezie Madden (USA), 5 Marcus Ehning (Ger), 6 Steve Guerdat (Swi), 7 Christian Ahlmann (Ger), 8 P Delaveau (Fra), 9 Luciana Diniz (Por), 10 Gerco Schroder (Ned).
