Richard Johnson is excited by the return of Cheltenian in the 32Red Casino Maiden Hurdle at Uttoxeter on Tuesday.
The 2011 Cheltenham Festival champion bumper winner has been restricted to just two races since then, but is ready to return to the fray and will face eight rivals over two miles at the Staffordshire track.
The Philip Hobbs-trained seven-year-old was last seen finishing 10th to Champagne Fever in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham in March after being short-headed on his hurdling debut at Doncaster a month earlier.
"We are really looking forward to getting him back," said Johnson. "He's very well at home and we are just hoping he retains all of his ability.
"He feels really well and he seems one that has handled it (testing ground) before. Realistically he's very unexposed."
