AFC Wimbledon have announced the signing of former Shrewsbury defender Darren Jones.

Dons boss Neal Ardley beat off competition from a host of clubs to land the 30-year-old, who left the League One Shrews earlier this week.

Ardley was desperate for defensive reinforcements after Andy Frampton suffered a dislocated shoulder which could sideline him for a couple of months.

"The feedback I've had is that he's been Shrewsbury's best centre-back this season so it's a massive coup for us," Ardley told the Dons' website.

"There were one or two other clubs that were desperate to get his signature and we're absolutely delighted to have signed Darren."
