Netball Superleague: Team Northumbria 41-51 Hertfordshire Mavericks

Team Northumbria suffered their first defeat in four matches as Hertfordshire romped to a 51-41 victory in the Netball Superleague.
The home side were left to count the cost of a poor start, allowing the Mavericks to score the opening seven points without reply.
Noleen Lennon finally got Northumbria on the board in the seventh minute, but Oonagh McCullough missed several chances as the Mavericks led 10-5 after the first period.
But the hosts fought back in the second quarter after Hertfordshire shooter Sarah East limped out of the game with an ankle injury.
However, the visitors maintained their five-point advantage at half-time and increased their lead to nine heading into the final quarter with goal keeper Lindsay Keable in great form.
Northumbria failed to score from three interceptions during an erratic final period, and the Mavericks ran out comfortable winners to claim their third win of the season.
The Mavericks next take on the lowly Yorkshire Jets on Saturday evening, while Northumbria face unbeaten leaders Surrey Storm.
