Nottingham Panthers returned to winning ways on Tuesday

Veteran defenceman Jonathan Weaver scored the only goal as Nottingham Panthers returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Cardiff Devils.

Last season's Elite League champions came into the contest in somewhat of a poor patch of form having suffered back-to-back defeats to Sheffield and Dundee at the weekend.

However, Weaver's goal less than two minutes into the third period handed them two points on Tuesday night.

Goaltender Craig Kowalski was the star of the show however, posting 41 saves to blank a Devils side who are now in a real fight to make the play-offs.

Nottingham now sit a point behind Sheffield in the race for second, with the Steelers having two games in hand, while the Devils are two points clear of Fife in the final play-off spot having played two games more.
