Telescope is due to kick off his four-year-old campaign in the bet365 Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown on April 25.

The Galileo colt was considered a major contender for the Investec Derby this time last year, but missed the Epsom Classic after a number of early-season problems.

Sir Michael Stoute's charge looked the part when he returned in a three-runner conditions race at Leicester and although he suffered defeat in the Rose of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock, he signed off with a fine victory in the Great Voltigeur at York.

Harry Herbert, racing manager for owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, said: "He is in great form and has done very well from three to four.

"He certainly looks the part and he is a much fuller, more mature horse than he was as a three-year-old.

"The plan is for him to start off in the Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown and we look forward to that."
