The New York Red Bulls extended their unbeaten MLS run to four games with a 1-0 away victory over FC Dallas.

The visitors notched their third win in 10 matches season thanks to a 71st-minute goal from Bradley Wright-Phillips.

The former Southampton and Charlton forward fired home from six yards after being teed up by Thierry Henry's through ball.

Dallas were reduced to 10 men after only 10 minutes when Je-Vaughn Watson was red-carded for a hard challenge on New York midfielder Tim Cahill.

Despite being a man short, Dallas battled hard and wasted a golden chance to take the lead in the 58th minute when Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles made a diving save to his right side to keep out Blas Perez's penalty which was awarded after Cahill fouled Danny Garcia.

Robles then made a superb save to deny Garcia just two minutes later.

However, Wright-Phillips had the final word as he inflicted a third defeat in nine matches this season on Dallas.

Meanwhile, Sporting Kansas City beat Columbus Crew 2-0 to move into a three-way share of the Eastern Conference lead.

Jacob Peterson put Kansas City ahead in the 10th minute with his first goal since the end of the 2014 season and substitute Claudio Bieler sealed the win in stoppage time.
