Hull KR prop James Green has signed a two-year contract extension with the Super League club.

Green, 23, who joined the club from Skirlaugh Bulls, has made the breakthrough to the first team this season.

He has played in all but one of his side's 12 matches so far, despite fierce competition for places in the pack.

Rovers coach Craig Sandercock said: "He's come a long way in a fairly short space of time and over the past two or three years we've been really happy with the improvements in his game.

"Unfortunately you can't keep everyone, but James is a player we identified that we'd like to keep.

"He's come through our academy system, he's made his debut at this great club and we really think he could become one of our premier front rowers in the years to come.

"He is one of our local, home-grown players who we think is going to get even better and that's why he fully deserves this new two-year deal."
