Stoke and Southampton were among the sides celebrating on the final day of the Championship season, while Leicester were relegated to League One.

The Potters will play in the Premier League next term after holding Leicester to a goalless draw, while Southampton secured their survival with a thrilling victory over Sheffield United and a host of other teams could finally breathe a sigh of relief after an almighty scrap to stay up.

There was more drama elsewhere as West Brom clinched the title, Watford clung onto a play-off spot and Crystal Palace secured their place in the top six with a thumping win against Burnley.

We want to hear your thoughts on the action. Can you remember a more exciting end to a Championship season?

How will Stoke and West Brom fare in the Premier League? Who will join them from Watford, Palace, Bristol City and Hull?

What now for Leicester? Can they bounce straight back up? What were the defining periods of the season for all the sides?

Jay Marshall (Hull City fan) says...

Every team deserves what they get. Leicester City are no bigger than Plymouth Mr. Holloway, and maybe that's something to think about whilst you watch 3rd tired football next season and Plymouth contemplate a push for the premiership. People speak of Holloways passion...so what! You also need knowledge, focus, integrity, and loyalty to make a good manager. Bet hey! 1-5 ain¿t bad is it Mr. Holloway, good luck away at Hereford by the way...you're living the dream now!

Mark Aney (Hull City fan) says...

The gap between the Championship and the Premiership has never been greater! West Brom have an outside chance of surviving a year but Stoke and whoever wins the play-offs...No chance! There is not the capital to support these teams. You need to consider the money Spurs, Newcastle & Middleborough spent this season just to finish in the bottom half and safe of relegation. Promoted teams should just accept the big pay check that the Premiership brings and milk it for all they can before being relegated. Spending big to compete in the premiership is just going to wind up with spending X millions on players, a high wage bill every week, and still odds on for relegation. It's more realistic to plan 2 promotions in 3years then it is to plan promotion and survival.

Mark Aney (Hull City fan) says...

I so wish that Hull got promoted. Hull is the largest city in Europe to never have been in the top flight of their countries professional footbal league. West brom & Stoke clearly deserve promotion as the league is long and fair, but if only Hull could done it!! As for West Brom and Stoke, a short life in the Prem awaits. The gulf between the championship and the prem is getting larger by the year and only a cash injection such as the one at QPR will bridge the gap.

J Baskeyfield says...

It never ceases to amaze me that Baggies fans can continually spout this tripe about them surviving the Premiership and Stoke being relegation bound. You can say what you want but take a look at the facts. Stoke took 4 points from you this season and usually take more. We were the second highest scorers in the league and but for our unusually slack defence this year would have taken the Championship by a country mile. Stoke have players who work for each other like no other team in the league. They also have a damn site more quality than they are given credit for. Make no mistake, we know it will be tough but I'm guessing that a few good names will be brought in to bolster the team during the summer and for any games at the Brit the crowd will be the 12th man. The siege and underdog mentality will suit us down to the ground. Leicester - pleased to see you go down. Never liked your fans and now that you have a loudmouth git and a fool of a chairman in charge I couldn't be happier.

Neil Disson (Cardiff City fan) says...

Like the majority of football fans of championship clubs, I congratulate both West Brom and Stoke in getting into the Premiership, however I must disagree with the West Brom fan who said that West Brom virtually outplayed every team during the season - how many teams like Cardiff scored seven goals against them eh ?? My only remaining hope is that all these Championship sides will be supporting Cardiff in the F A Cup Final on 17 May as we flythe flag for what has been the most unpredictable season in my own living memory, which in itself is over 43 tears long !! I firmly believe we can win (sorry Pompey !!).

Chris Webb (crystal palace fan) says...

I am chuffed at the confidence that most neutral supporters have in CPFC winning the play-offs, i am a little modest about it though. I think Hull deserve something, while City play the 'best football' and Watford probably have the money to spend if they go up. However, its all irrelvent. It will be a free-for-all over the next 2/3 games, so its all good for the neutral! I forsee a CP vs Hull final. As for Leicester, i am so glad they went down, Mandaric and Holloway deserved it. Both two-faced liars. As for Peter Machin (the Stoke fan who wrote on here) - how can you say you will easily stay up? If you ever visit planet earth, you will see that you need more than height, aggression and 11 loan players to get points in the premiership. Good luck to you though, honestly! Up the Eagles!!

Roy Pavett says...

Although I am disappointed for Leicester, there is absolutely no creedance in the now immortal phrase "we are too big a club to go down".....The fact remains that you have been relegated because you have been unable to perform consistantly during the season.....having the second best defence in the league means nothing if you are not scoring goals at the other end....and so endeth the lesson! That said, I would much rather have seen Southampton go down....and NO, I am not a Portsmouth fan....I am a Spurs fan, and we have had our share of difficulties in the premiership this season. To the promoted teams...good luck next season. The Baggies will probably survive this time round due to their previous flirtations, but I fear for Stoke...they will have to spend BIG.....remember what happened to Derby this season! Here's looking forward to season 2008/09.....BRING IT ON!

Posted 16:23 6th May 2008

Dan Gleebles (Leicester City fan) says...

We are not too big for League 1 fact!! We have a big fan base but we haven't done anything to prove we are a good football team for years. We need to use this as an opportunity to get rid of the dead wood in the team and give the youngsters a chance to show how its done. Dowie will be in within 2 weeks......

Mike Green says...

Well done to WBA and Stoke. WBA look like they have the depth to survive. Stoke will be fighting until the last day of next season to hold onto their place. Whoever wins the playoff final will be heading straight back down. Won't be another Derby, but none of those teams have the depth to survive the Prems. Final should be Hull v Palace. Not sure who to pick, Palace are the form team of the four, but they did lose out to Hull not too long ago. If I had to guess, it would be Palace, but they are the successful team in the history of the premiership at getting relegated.

Matt Evans (Bristol City fan) says...

Quite glad to see Leicester go down with Holloway in charge. Next season the championship is going to be even tighter with possible clubs like reading birmingham or fulham going down, and Swansea and Forest going up! Well done to Johnson and the boys at the Gate, what a season, Come on you Reds

Posted 13:02 6th May 2008

Michael Woodington says...

Keep the faith in Holloway Leicester fans. He hasn't become an awful manager overnight. He'll take you back up first time. I'd happily see him at my club, Cardiff City, although we are more than happy with Dave Jones!

L M (Sheffield United fan) says...

Feel very sorry for the Foxes, Mandaric's decisions this season gives a whole new meaning to 'change management' and now he's going to do it again. I'm sure all Leicester fans are wishing he had left Martin Allen 'in situ', because I doubt they would be playing in League 1 next season. On the other hand, well done to Neil Warnock, who was determined to show the Blades what they were missing after they gor rid of him. More importantly, it sends a message to Rafa that he (Warnock) is not a pre historic manager, but a great man motivator. Palace v Bristol City will be a real cracker!!!

Jimbo Walsh (Plymouth Argyle fan) says...

So glad Leicester got relegated. Holloway is a two faced liar and desrved everything he got. As for Leicester 'being too big a club', get real! Leicester have been shocking for the past 2 seasons and fully deserved to be relegated

Jez Edwards (West Bromwich Albion fan) says...

Congratulations to The Albion on their promotion and for outplaying pretty much every team in the Championship this season with just the occasional blip (Barnsley away). Beating Watford 3-0 at Vicarage Road was a turning point. Our style of football is more suited to the Premiership so under the superb guidance of Mr. Mowbray, we should be OK next season. Strengthening is required in some areas rather than wholesale changes. People say that the Championship has been weak this season as we have become champions with the lowest total for many years. I believe that the Championship has been strong this season with so many clubs being in contention for promotion right up to the last few weeks. It has certainly made for an exciting, nail biting finish for many supporters. I think Palace will win the play-offs although I'd like to see Hull make it. Bad luck to The Wo*ves who didn't quite make it. Be patient with McCarthy as I think he's good for you! Wo*ves are like an old bra ~ No cups and little support! Can't wait for next season. My season ticket cost just £299 for next season. Is this the best value in the Premiership? BOING! BOING! BAGGIES! BAGGIES!

John Lee says...

All the problems that leicester has, lay firmly and squarely, at the feet of Mandaric!!!

Posted 14:30 5th May 2008

Rick John (West Ham United fan) says...

So some think Leicester were too big a club to go down. Get real. At the end of a season you get what you deserve. For once size does not matter, its quality not quantity that matters. Sometimes it is the making of a club to go down, sometimes its the end. We will watch and see if Leicester have the bottle to bounce back.

Paul Edwin (Tottenham Hotspur fan) says...

Although I am a life time fan of Spurs I love to see the passion that Neil Warnock creates at the clubs he goes to! Couldnt ever bring myself to say that I admire another London club but I do admire the spirit of people in football like Neil...... so I do want to see him back in the Premiership!!! Good Luck for the play offs!

Peter Machin (Stoke City fan) says...

Well done to Stoke's players and especially Tony Pulis and Peter Coates. Can all the doubters now get off his case please? He has done what no other manager has achieved in the last 23 years. I think we will do ok next year. We have the basis of a good Premership squad in Simmo, Shawcross, Cort, Laurance, Delap, Griff, Mama and Ric, and with a few additions, and a few deletions, I can see us surviving fairly easily, and causing more than a few shocks along the way. SAVOUR THE MOMENT. THE POTTERS ARE BACK.

Posted 10:34 5th May 2008

Michael Niven (West Bromwich Albion fan) says...

Boing Boing! I have such faith in Tony and the team. Never really felt like this in 42 years as a fan. I do think life in the premiership will be tough. Yes tough for the teams who have to play us. I'm putting a bit of money on us finishing in the top six.
