Grant: Sacked
On Saturday evening, Chelsea sacked manager Avram Grant after only eight months in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Grant's arrival after former boss Jose Mourinho's departure last September was met by furrowed brows. But Grant bucked the criticism to lead his side to the Carling Cup final, UEFA Champions League final and second place in the Premier League.
Were Chelsea right to sack Grant? Should he have been given more time in charge?
Did he pay the price for falling at the final hurdle? Would he still have been sacked if Chelsea had won the Champions League?
And what of who will be next to take over at the helm? Might Jose Mourinho make a dramatic return, or will the Blues look to someone in the mould of Frank Rijkaard, Roberto Mancini, and Russia's Dutch boss Guus Hiddink?

Chelsea as a big club should try and get us big manager, The sacking of grant has given room for plenty of opinions and voices, I want to believe that chelsea executives know exackly what they are going but they should act fast to get us a big and experience coach, pre-season is at hand.

Grant do not have enough carisma to carry Chelsea fc, he does not know when and when not to subtitute, although Abramovich too need to be very very patient Champion league is good for every club to win it but it not a do or die affairs please. Chelsea management u know what is right, release Drobga to go he also contributed to our not winning the CL, so do what is best for the Club please Oscar Joe (Nigeria)

The Chelsea Managers job is a Poison Chalice at the moment and it will take either a lot of money or a hard headed person to take the job. Who would want to work for the spoilt child who considers winning the champions league as the only criteria to keep your job? Sure Grant didn't win the champions league but he got there...didn't he? Once Mourinho cleans out Chelsea of their players, it will be along time before they do again. .....Of course though money can buy many things

I completlely agree with Ikenna Onyia Avram did more in 8 months with a team stuck in 8th place! and why? because mourinho simply didn't care anymore! Mourinho wasn't that special! even he admits it! I mean i think Rafael Benetiz his aweful! If grant had been brought in even a week earlier or if he had gained the support of his players earlier you would have seen chelsea with the double and avram grant still in his position. But roman doesn't care about the beautiful game he only cares about the green!

what a load of rubbish ,they want to bring another manager from abroad.why not make steve clark manager, and put mclaren as his no 2,because no matter what happens nothing will ever be as bad as losing on penalties to the mancs ,

Grant sacked for getting Chelsea to their first European Champions League final, Ericksson sacked for giving Machester City a fabulous season and Coppell and Jewell persuaded to stay despite getting their teams relegated. IS it Gazzy who mentally ill or the rest of us for trying to understand what is going on !!

I really don't see the point of firing Grant, maybe 2 years of managing and we still didn't win anything then he could get fired but 8 months! Come on! We got 2nd place in the premiership finalists in the carling cup and finalists in the Champions league which Jose Morinho could never do, we were just unlucky. Roman Abramovich needs to give more time or we will have a different manager every year. Didier Drogba was not playing at his best, Frank Lampard was still upset and everyone felt down after losing to Man U in the premiership, and it still went to penalties. I think Avram was sacked partly because he had not much personality which bored people and Roman gave in to peer pressure.

The Premier league, Champions league, FA Cup, League Cup and just about everything else in football belong to the media. They tell you who is best, who should be or shouldn't be, who will, who wont? Money rules, get use to that fact. Why was Ferdinand not booked for the high tackle in the box with Joe Cole? Handbags at dawn and Drogba straight off, when penalties loomed and he'd be first on the sheet. Who knows? Did Jose think he knew? So lay off Avram, the media got him sacked before the final 2 games and John Terry will always be in our hearts.

i am a huge chelsea fan and enjoyed nothing more than us winning the league and trophy after trophy but i no wat pain feels like i nearly cryed after the champ league final but it not grants fault it was just unlucky. He got us there no other manager has not even " the special one". We have many great players but it takes a manager to get them to play well together which grant did. it is the unity of the manager and players that make a great team. you cn have ood players but if u havent got good manamger then it wont work At the end of the day would us chelsea fans be moaning if we had a season like this before the mouriniho yrs i mean back then it was acceptable if we finished 4th and maybe win the fa cup but all of a sudden after one manager having good few yrs us fans got greedy and wanted more trophies at the end of the day each manager is different and has there own style and it takes time to get this across time which grant wasn't given. He is a good manager and he will win the champions league unfortunately not with us cos if more about buiseness in our club now and not bout football which is a shame cos i came a chelsea fan cos they way we played which grant brought bck

I have followed chelsea since the early 70s. I have watched every game I could and been sad when they lose. For the first time in my life I have been watching my team and hoping they would fail. I think Avram Grant was onto a hiding no matter what he did. Who could follow the chosen one and not be compared to him. Yes he had big shoes to fill. But the team reflects the manager who had no charisma. We have had crap managers before but we followed them. I am glad he has gone.

i think chelsea may slip into what newcastle did, may sound far fetched but chelsea seem to be doing what newcastle done once keegan left. they want someone to do either aswell as mourihno or better. any manager who comes behind him will be sacked/ eventually i feel that chelsea will become the new newcastle, sacking every manger and slipping down in the table until they're an average team before they even realise it. anyways, cmon keegan!

i fink that chelsea should have keept avram becuse considering he made it to the champions league final in his firts season is great, jose marino did not complet that in 5 years. Plus he walked in a 1/3 of the way throw the season with his first game of his contraced and he only lose to gams to man u and arsnal in his contracked. He finshed 2 coming from 5. BEATING MAN U to bring them level on points ...
