Terry: No break
The scan has shown there is no break and I am hoping to train... and of course play in the FA Cup final on Saturday
John Terry has confirmed that he has not suffered a broken metatarsal and that he still hopes to play in this weekend's FA Cup final.
Terry suffered an injury during training with his club on Wednesday and he was forced to leave their Cobham training complex with a protective boot on his foot.
He immediately went to hospital for a precautionary scan, but they showed no break - amid fears he had suffered a broken metatarsal.
"I took a slight knock in training but with such an important match on Saturday the right course of action was to put a protective boot on my right foot and have a CT scan," said Terry.
"The scan has shown there is no break and I am hoping to train tomorrow if not Friday and of course play in the FA Cup final on Saturday."
Terry will be desperate to avoid any injury as he prepares to lead Chelsea on Saturday against Portsmouth as they hope to complete the first Double in the club's history.
England coach Fabio Capello will also be keeping abreast of the situation as he looks to avoid any injuries ahead of the World Cup finals.

I know we all want England to do well but i have to say John Terry is over rated. He is not in the first 11 through merit, but reputation and his Chelsea status. He has been very average since Xmas.World class,i think not

People who hate John Terry only base it on club rivalry. If he was injured, Capello would have to partner Dawson or King with Ferdinand. Considering that King can't play more than 1 game every 7 days and Ferdinand only managed 13 league games all season, we'd see a different centre-back pairing for every game. At a World Cup you need the two centre-backs to have a good understanding and that won't be possible. Love him or hate him, England needs John Terry.

This is great news for england and I for one am very relieved. Terry is without doubt the most consisent defender in the england squad and he is a natural born leader, and will guide the defence like no one else can. His experience at the top level will be crucial as he has played at the very highest level and is used to playing in high pressure games.
