Woods: can't stop winning

The incredible Tiger Woods has won every event that he has entered this year and some bookmakers are going just 25/1 that he plays out the entire season unbeaten.

After nine wins from 10 events, the man himself reckons he is playing better than ever and after crushing Stewart Cink in the World Match Play final this week, his game looks in tip-top shape.

Talk of an unprecedented Grand Slam is growing in volume and Woods has made no secret that is his target.

So can anyone stop Tiger? Can he win the Slam or even go the season unbeaten?

Although the chances are very slim, the idea of Tiger making it through an entire season, or even completing the Grand Slam, is one which I truly hope he can fulfill. Not only is he the best golfer of this, and maybe any era it is so refreshing to have a sporting superstar that plays the game in the correct and professional manner compared to the attitude of many of todays other sporting 'superstars'. Long may his domination of golf continue, although I must agree that the Players Championship at Sawgrass may prove his undoing, but I would willing wager that if, and when he does not finish in the number 1 slot, that he will be gracious in defeat and continue to respect the conduct that he has always shown. ...oh and if he does continue his unbeaten streak, lets hope it doesn't include the Ryder Cup come the autumn!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Life is about dreaming, speculating, etc. so it is only natural that one is inclined to do this where Tiger is concerned, given past and most recent excellent play. Also, it is important that Tiger believes that if he focuses on one tournament at a time, that the possibility is within REASON (given some luck - opportunity meeting preparation) that he could possibility win many tournaments. If a golfer, or any individidual in any sphere of endeavour does not believe he/she can win succeed, he/she will never achieve or come close to achieving his/her potential. So, let's just hang on for the ride and see what happens. I do not think Tiger will stop tryng because someone tops him the next time he plays. He will just go away and look at it as a learning experience for the next time. That's the right attitude.

Tiger is no doubt playing the best golf of his career at the moment, but to actually think about going an entire season unbeaten is too unrealistic. There is bound to be a time when other players hit form or even when Tiger faces a course that isn't tailored to suit his game. Shoud be interesting to follow.

I agree that Tiger is not unbeatable or invincible but just in breathtaking form. he just seems to know how to win. Many, however, seem to be in awe of him and crumble when the chance is there. I thought Cink might have given him a run in the final, judging on his previous rounds form. Who is going to beat him? Who indeed! Just wish Nicklaus was still in his hey day!!

Woods is not totally unbeatable, last weekend Holmes should have beaten him, 3 up with 5 to play, he got all defensive. Woods 3 birdies & eagle was fantastic but as a pro Holmes should have birdied at least 2 of those closing holes. Aaron Baddeley was the same, he had 3 great chances to finish Woods but was defensive on all 3 putts, Woods got one chance, wham! into the cup, he would have had a tricky 4 footer back if he had missed, thats how to win. Stenson, well, lets just say he didn't play his best at the end. Woods is at his best at the moment but no-one has really tested him properly for a while. Baddlely came closest but didn't have the conviction in the end.

There is no doubt that Woods is playing unstobbable golf right now, and the Grand Slam is certainly a possibility. I don't think however that it is realistic to talk about him going the entire season unbeaten. His next few events will be interesting though as Doral and Bay Hill are both courses that Tiger has had huge success on so the winning streak could well continue. It's hardly worth putting a bet on the Masters or the US Open with such short odds, but again Augusta and Torrey Pines are tailor-made for Woods.

Tiger Woods is simply the greatest sportsman in the world just now and as lovers of the game of golf we are all very lucky to have him and his talents playing the game. I can't see anyone getting close to him for another few years at least; but hopefully the level of British golf will continue to rise. Fingers crossed for Monty.

There is no doubt that Tiger is going too have an off day, but when he does will his opponents be able too do enought to beat him/ Tiger was within one hole of losing the wgc, he went and birdied the next 5 holes, then he destroyed the field for the next 4 days. The incredible thing is he sets his schedule around the top events, meaning he is playing the top players every time. I think we should feel priviliged to be living in a era watching the greatest sportsman on earth - no doubt about it.

Tiger is playing incredibly well but I really can't see him going the year unbeaten, or winning the Slam for that matter. He has only got to have one bad day and an opponent has to have a couple of good days. It will be interesting to see when he does lose - I reckon Sawgrass is a good bet, where he has a very poor record by his standards. 25/1 is a silly price but clearly the bookies are running scared.
