Liedson: Ambitious
Portugal striker Liedson is confident of mounting a strong challenge at next summer's World Cup.
Carlos Queiroz's men had to come through the play-offs to book their spot in South Africa, beating Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-0 on aggregate.
They struggled throughout their group campaign and only just scraped second spot ahead of Sweden.
Liedson of Sporting nevertheless believes Portugal have the potential to improve and should be considered one of the teams to beat in 2010.
"We have suffered but we have achieved our objective," said the 31-year-old.
"Now Portugal are a clear candidate for the title. We have big players and next summer could be a unique chance for us to show our quality.
"I do not fear any of our other rivals in the competition."
Having been born in Brazil, Liedson had to qualify as a Portugal resident by living in the country for six years and he is now looking to make up for lost time.
"For me this is one of the greatest challenges of my career that I have achieved," he continued.
"I have decided to play with Portugal and now we are in the World Cup, but I am ambitious and I want more success."
