Ronaldo: Key man for Portugal

The 2008 European Championships gets under way on Saturday with joint hosts Switzerland kicking off against the Czech Republic.

Sky Bet have produced a wealth of markets for the opening match including; 5/1 for the Swiss forward Alexander Frei to score at anytime in the first half against the Czech Republic, 4/1 for both teams to score during the first half, 4/1 for any Swiss player to score two or more goals in the match, 10/3 for the Czech Republic to have 8 or more corners in the match and 6/1 for Milan Baro¿ to open his account in the first half.

The other match taking place on Saturday evening sees 2004 beaten finalists Portugal taking on Turkey.

Portugal will be hoping Cristiano Ronaldo can continue were he left off in the Barclays Premier league and Sky Bet are offering; 9/2 for the Manchester United winger to score two or more goals against Turkey, 6/4 to score at anytime in 90 minutes and 20/1 to score a hat trick.

Sky Bet are also offering a book on what will happen first to Ronaldo in their opening game. It's 2/1 that he scores, 11/4 that he's fouled and the player receives a yellow card, 8/1 to be booked, 14/1 that he gets substituted and 13/8 for the final whistle to be blown before any of the over outcomes happen.

Having bagged 42 goals for champions Manchester United this season Ronaldo is the 8/1 joint favourite along with Fernando Torres and Germany's Miroslav Klose to secure the Golden Boot.

Lewis 13/8 for repeat

Sky Bet has installed Lewis Hamilton as the 13/8 favourite to repeat last year's win at the Canadian Grand Prix when he takes to the track again in Montreal this Sunday.

Hamilton will look to secure his third win of the season having already stepped onto the top tier of the podium in Australia and Monaco. Last year's driver's champion Kimi Raikkonen is priced at 2/1 for a win in Canada, whilst the in-form Polish prodigy Robert Kubica is at 9/1.

Dale Tempest, Sky Bet's PR Director said: "With Hamilton proving himself as the youngest ever F1 driver to win at Monaco a few weeks ago, the Canadian Grand Prix is well within his sights."

Following Kubica's spectacular crash in Canada in 2007, where the safety car appeared on four separate occasions, the bookie has odds of 4/11 for the safety car to reappear on the track this year.
