Marcel Granollers-Pujol of Spain stunned top seed James Blake to win the US Claycourt Championships in Texas.

The number seven seed claimed his first ATP Tour title by surviving Blake's second set comeback to win 6-4 1-6 7-5.

Blake, 28, dropped a tight opening set but came storming back to take the second for the loss of just one game.

However, despite Granollers-Pujol playing in his first Tour final, he regained his composure to hit back and win the deciding set 7-5.

Blake has previously lost the Delray Beach final to Japanese teenager Kei Nishikori.

With an 11th career ATP title out of reach for now, Blake fell to an even 35-35 record on clay with the loss in Houston.

Blake commented: "It's really tough right now, I'm very upset about it, very disappointed.

"I definitely could have served a little better and I wasn't attacking as much.

"It's tough to do against a guy who plays such good defence and moves as well as he does. It really made it tough for me to execute what I was trying to do."
