Croatia's Novak Djokovic eased into the third round of the Rome Masters with a 6-4 6-0 over world number 49 Steve Darcis.
The Australian Open champion had to overcome an early break of serve and two further break points later in the first set, but Darcis lost his fifth service game to love as the Croatian took the advantage.
His Belgian opponent appeared unsettled by the turn of events, and capitulated in the second set as the third seed booked his place in the next round.
"Winning the Australian Open changed my life and I want to be number one this year," he said. "I always feel at home here in Italy and that's why I like playing here," he added in Italian.
