Murray: Simon up next
Andy Murray moved through to the second round of the ATP Hamburg Masters with a straight-sets victory over Dmitry Tursunov.
The 15th seed won 6-4 6-1 to take his career record against the Russian world number 31 to 4-0.
The British number one will play Frenchman Gilles Simon in the second round.
Murray told Sky Sports: "Dmitry is a tough guy to play against because he can hit some huge balls and ones that you don't really expect, but I played really well today, I served good for most of the match, I was never broken and I was happy with the way I played.
"I haven't played that many matches on clay so to expect me to come out and play well every single week... I lost a tough match against a tough player last week and a bit too much was made of it.
"I am playing better on clay this year, I am feeling a bit more confident, I am sliding very well and hopefully I can have another good match tomorrow."
A wrist injury at this tournament last year ruled Murray, 20, out of Roland Garros and Wimbledon and he had struggled on clay so far this season, winning just three matches.
But he looked comfortable against the unpredictable 25-year-old Muscovite, dominating with deep gtrounstrokes on either side and provoking Tursunov into plenty of errors.
But tougher tests await. The unseeded Simon beat Murray in their only previous meeting at last year's Rome Masters and the winner of that tie will most likely face clay court king Rafael Nadal.
