Juan Martin del Potro progressed to his maiden Grand Slam semi-final with a resounding 6-3 6-4 6-2 victory over Tommy Robredo on Wednesday.

The fifth seed, who was playing in his fifth Roland Garros quarter-final, was quickly into his stride in Paris, breaking the Spaniard in the seventh game on his way to claiming the first set after 34 minutes.

The 20-year-old Argentine then eased through the rest of the match to set up a meeting with tournament favourite Roger Federer in the last four.
