Hungary's Agnes Szavay gave local supporters a thrilling climax to the GDF Suez Grand Prix in Budapest with a 2-6 6-4 2-6 victory over Patty Schnyder.
The Swiss top seed clinched the opening set as Szavay struggled with her serve, but the Hungarian hit back to level and send the match into a decider.
The local hero stormed into 5-1 lead and was able to waste two match points before serving out for the match.
The world number 37 was winning her third title on the WTA Tour.
