Quotes of the week
Australian Alicia Molik is set to make a return to WTA singles as a wildcard entry into the main draw of the Hobart International in January, Tennis Australia have announced.
The 28-year-old, who reached a career-best eighth in the world rankings, retired from the sport last year after suffering with the effects of a middle-ear condition.
Molik had appeared in all four Grand Slams and triumphed in the Grand Slam doubles titles at Roland Garros and the Australian Open.
She also celebrated Olympic success, securing the bronze medal for Australia at the 2004 Athens Games.
"The last few months have been fantastic playing on the Pro Tour," said Molik in a statement.
"But I'm really looking forward to having another step up to an even more challenging level."
The Hobart International is a lead-up event to the Australian Open and takes place from January 8-16 next year.
