Hard-hitting Americans Sam Querrey and John Isner will meet in the final of the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships after both recorded semi-final victories on Saturday.

Eighth seed Querry advanced to his first final of the year with a 6-3 6-4 victory over Ernests Gulbis, while Isner was made to work harder before he overcame Philipp Petzschner 7-5 4-6 6-3.

World number 31 Querrey needed just a solitary break in either set to claim victory and even his career record with Gulbis at 1-1.

"He's one of those guys who goes out there and just plays almost like with nothing to lose." Querrey said. "He just kind of swings freely at every shot, and you've got to be expecting everything."

Isner booked his place in Sunday's final with a hard-fought three-set triumph over German Petzschner earlier in the day.

The world number 25 converted three of the 11 break points opened up and fired down 13 aces to win his first meeting with Petzschner.

"I think, seriously, it was a 50-50 match," Petzschner said. "If we played like this the whole season, he would win five, I would win five. It was just a matter of a couple of points.

"Maybe he was the more luckier today. Maybe he was playing better at the important points."
