Henman: Has ruled out captaincy
At the moment I would not want the commitment or the responsibility of being Davis Cup captain.
Tim Henman
Quotes of the week
Tim Henman insists he has no interest in being Great Britain's next Davis Cup captain because "it doesn't feel like the right time".
The position could soon become available, with incumbent John Lloyd considering his future in the role after becoming the first GB captain to oversee five consecutive defeats when his team fell to Lithuania last weekend.
The loss means Great Britain are in danger of tumbling into the lowest tier of the tournament, provoking calls for changes to be made within the side.
Henman, though, has ruled himself out as a candidate for the captain's role, but the 35-year-old admits leading his country some time in the future would appeal to him.
"Maybe in three years or in 13 years, sometime in the future, I might be interested in being the Davis Cup captain," the former world No.4 told The Daily Telegraph.
"But it doesn't feel like the right time. I'm enjoying my family and my golf - and not having any structure in my life.
"For 28 of the first 33 years of my life tennis was what I did. I wouldn't change that and I'm sure at some stage I'm going to get more involved and give back to British tennis.
"But at the moment I would not want the commitment or the responsibility of being Davis Cup captain."

adam whitely, Murray isnt getting criticized because he's been doing his job, but others around him aren't. He's winning all his singles matches, he cant do anything more than that, whereas bogdanovic was rubbish and then decided not to make himself available. Plus adny murray winning his matches against whoever we just played would have just papered over the cracks it wouldve done no good, now we really know just how much work is needed. Why should Andy carry us when he has his own career to worry about? Its a waste of his time playing rubbish sides that we still lose to.

I have an interesting question. Why is womans tennis in this country looking in good shape, but not the mens? Are the woman gaining more from the money being put into the game? Seems an interesting point to me.

Is it not time to have separate England/Scotland/Wales/NI tennis teams in Davis and Hopman Cup. At present, Scotland have 2 Murrays,Fleming,Baker,Baltacha so could have a strong team. Andy Murray might be keener to play davis Cup too.

british tennis is far behind other countries. all of our top tennis players have come from families with money. where the natural talent is this country is from the low / middle class. the prices of rackets, restrings and decent training cost alot of money. grants are given out but 100- 200 pounds here and there is nothing. even the preformance trainers' in this country are rubish. too many rubbish coaches are given licences to coach children. surely a coach should be a certain lta rating defore given their licences, but there not. even town council's charging children to play on tennis court's is rediclious. should be make free!!

i remember going back just a couple of years, when alex bogdavovic made himself unavaliable for a davis cup tie, and greg ruzedski come out and critisized his desicion to back out, saying things like alex should be standing up and being counted for, ok, maybe not playing all the games, but basically showing great britain he's there if they need him, may i ask why andy murry isnt getting any of this critisism? why is he allowed to get away with making himself unavalable and others arnt? a bit fickle if u ask me
