Second seed Caroline Wozniacki needed a storming final set to finally break the resistance of Zheng Jie at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

The Dane was forced to dig deep against the Chinese 18th seed before finally securing a 6-4 4-6 6-1 victory.

Wozniacki was ruthless in the final set as she broke Jie three times, while her rival wasted four break points.

Wozniacki said: "It was a long match. It was really tough.

"She played really well and got a lot of balls back that I thought I had won already. I'm really pleased about my game today."

Wozniacki will now face Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska in the semi-final and she know she is going to have another tough encounter.

"She's a good player. She's getting a lot of balls back. She's thinking. She's smart on the court. But she's a good friend," Wozniacki.

"Tomorrow I think we're just going to relax, have fun, and then we have to see what's going to happen the day after."

Fifth seeded Radwanska set up the tie after claiming a 6-4 6-3 win over fourth seed Elena Dementieva.

"I'm very happy that I am in this condition always playing two sets," said Radwanska.

"Of course, it's always better to win in two sets, but it's always hard, especially here.

"It's tough, especially against Dementieva, who is also very tough to play against. I'm just happy about my performance this week."
